Wooden Candle Pyramid German Winter Children
The Winter Children Candle Pyramid is hand-carved and hand-painted, with three children at play among trees around the central spindle. Rotates in the warm air when tea lights are lit.
Handcrafted in Seiffen, Germany by a cooperative of Erzgebirge woodturners founded in 1919. The Erzgebirge, or Ore Mountains, is the historic home of German nutcrackers and candle pyramids, crafts that trace back to 18th-century miners who turned to woodcarving through the long winter months.

Seiffen woodworkers
When the silver mines of the Erzgebirge shut down in the 1700s, families turned their lathes to toys and ornaments, and a world famous folk tradition was born.
Today these pieces are still made by hand in small, family run woodshops, many of them carrying the craft forward exactly as their parents taught them.FROM OUR COMMUNITY
