heinen delfts blauw
The story of Holland's famous pottery begans in the 1600s, when artists began to replicate the icnoc Chinese blue-and-white porcelain that came accross on trading ships.
Centuries later, in 1975, Jaap Heinen and his wife began selling their own hand-painted pottery from a little stall beside the harbour in Spakenburg. From those humble beginnings, a family business was born. Today, their ornaments are still painted by hand, now in Jingdezhen itself, the very city that first inspired Delft Blue over four hundred years ago. A artisinal full circle, centuries in the making.
