A set of four mouth-blown white glass bird ornaments, each silvered within for depth and finished with hand-applied glitter detail.
Mouth-blown and hand-silvered in Thuringia, Germany, where the glass Christmas ornament originated in the 1840s. Glassblowers in the mountain village of Lauscha shaped the first glass baubles for Christmas trees, and the region has remained a centre of handcrafted glass ornaments ever since.

LAUSCHA, GERMANY | EST. 1847
Christmas trees as we know them today can be traced back to one man in the town of Lauscha, Germany. In 1847, Hans Greiner fashioned the first glass tree ornaments in the shapes of fruits and nuts, creating decorations meant to last beyond a single season and take the place of precious food.
Our Thruingian ornaments are made by the same founding glass families, who have produced ornaments in their own small workshops for nearly 200 years.
