U.K. customers are responsible for any duties or VAT that apply on delivery, in line with current U.K. import rules. We'll do everything we can to keep your parcel moving cleanly through customs, but the timing and amounts of U.K. import fees aren't ours to control.


online Return policy

Every piece in our shop is made by a person somewhere in the world, often in small batches, sometimes one at a time. We choose them carefully, and we hope you will too. When something isn't right for your home, we'd rather hear from you than have you settle for it. Below is how returns work, in plain language. If you have a question before placing an order, please write to us at hello@faireliving.com. We'd be glad to help you make the choice that's perfect for you.

Returns from within Canada

Returns and exchanges are accepted within fourteen days of the delivery date, provided the piece is in new, unused, resellable condition with its original packaging. You have two ways to receive your refund:

Refund to your original payment method, minus the original shipping cost. If you recieved free shipping on your order, the original shipping cost shown at checkout will be deducted from your refund.

Store credit as a Faire Living gift card, refunded for the full purchase price including original shipping. Our gift cards do not expire and can be used in our Calgary shop or online, on any future order.

Most customers choose store credit when they're open to another piece from our collection; many choose refund-to-payment when the piece simply wasn't the right fit. Either is welcome, and the choice is yours.

We don't charge a restocking fee on Canadian returns.

How to return a Canadian order

  1. Write to us at hello@faireliving.com with your order number and a short note about the piece you're returning. We'll reply with a Return Authorisation (RA) number.
  2. Pack the piece carefully in its original packaging, with enough cushioning to keep it safe in transit. Pieces damaged during return shipping aren't eligible for refund.
  3. Write the RA number clearly on the outside of the parcel and ship it back to us through your preferred carrier. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility for change-of-mind returns.
  4. We ask that you mail back your return within 2 weeks of your orders arrival date.
  5. Once the order arrives back at the shop and meets our return conditions, your refund or store credit is processed within three business days.

If a parcel arrives outside the fourteen-day window, or without a Return Authorisation number we've issued, we may not be able to process it as a refund or store credit. Please write to us before sending anything back so we can confirm the piece is eligible and get the RA number to you.

Orders shipping outside Canada

Orders shipping outside of Canada, including those destined for the United States, the United Kingdom, and other international destinations, are considered final sale.

A thoughtful conversation before ordering often provides the confidence needed to choose well, and many of our international customers tell us afterward that the extra guidance made all the difference.

We're always happy to provide additional photographs, measurements, material details, or styling guidance.

As a small independent shop based in Calgary, we've made this decision thoughtfully. International return shipping is costly and time-consuming, and duties, taxes, and brokerage fees paid at checkout are non-recoverable once an order has crossed a border. Rather than building these expenses into our pricing for every customer, we've chosen to maintain a final sale policy for international orders and keep our pricing as fair and consistent as possible.

Damaged or incorrect items

If a piece arrives damaged, defective, or different from what you ordered, please contact us at hello@faireliving.com within forty-eight hours of delivery, with photos of the piece, the box, and the packaging. We'll either send a replacement or refund you in full to your original payment method, including any shipping costs. This applies to every order, in every country we ship to.

A hand-thrown bowl will never be perfectly round. A block-printed linen will carry the printer's marks. A handwoven basket will sit slightly different from its neighbour. These differences are what make each piece one of a kind, and they're not eligible for refund as damage.

Sale and seasonal items

Sale-priced pieces are final sale and not eligible for return or exchange.

Seasonal pieces, including holiday ornaments, select linens, textiles, dishware, pots, and decor designated as seasonal at the time of purchase, are also final sale. We carry these in small quantities for a specific window in the year and can't take them back into stock once that window has passed.

Seasonal items that are not eligible for return will be clearly maked on their product listing.

Exchanges

Once an order has shipped from our online shop, we aren't able to process exchanges. So much of what we carry comes in small batches that we can't reliably hold a second piece while a first one travels back, and the piece you'd want to swap into may not still be with us by the time the return is processed.

If you'd like a different piece, please initiate a return on the original order under our standard policy and place a new order at any time. The two are handled independently.

If a piece arrives damaged or defective, please see the section above rather than starting a return — we'll handle it directly.

Exchanges are welcome on in-store purchases within fourteen days. Please see our in-store policy for the details.

Lost, stolen, or delayed parcels

Once a parcel leaves our shop and is in transit with a carrier, the carrier is responsible for it. If your tracking shows a parcel as delivered but you haven't received it, or if the parcel appears lost or stolen, please contact the shipping carrier directly to open a claim. Faire Living can't issue refunds for parcels that have been correctly addressed and confirmed delivered by the carrier.

Parcels returned to us due to an incorrect or incomplete address, or because they weren't claimed at the carrier's depot, remain the customer's responsibility. We'll happily resend the parcel once it's back with us, with reshipping at the customer's cost.

Do you ship internationally?

We’re happy to offer shipping options to Canada, the U.S, and the UK directly at checkout. For all other countries, please reach out to our customer service team at hello@faireliving.com and provide details about the items you wish to purchase and your shipping address. We’ll be happy to provide you with shipping options and rates tailored to your location.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Depending on your location, we offer both Standard and Express shipping options. If you require a faster delivery option than those available at checkout, our customer service team is happy to assist you in finding the best shipping solution.

All in-stock orders are processed within 1-3 business days.

I Need to Change My Order Before It Ships

If you've spotted a mistake or need to update your order, please write to us at hello@faireliving.com as soon as you can with your order number and what needs to change. We start preparing orders shortly after they come through, so the sooner we hear from you, the better the chances we can catch it before the parcel goes out.

We're not able to recover orders shipped to an incorrect address provided at checkout, so a quick look at your shipping details before placing the order is the best protection on both sides.

If you need to cancel your order prior to shipping, please note that a $15 CAD restocking fee will apply if your order has already been packaged but not yet shipped. This fee will be deducted from your refund.

To request a change, please reach out with your order number and the details you’d like to update. We’ll confirm whether the change is possible and adjust your order accordingly.

If your order has already been processed and is on its way to you, we will gladly assist you with our returns process once your item arrives.

HOW DO I CHECK THE STATUS OF MY ORDER?

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. 

If you haven’t received your order within your estimated arrival window, please contact us with your name and order number, and we will gladly look into it for you.

Do you ship to P.O. boxes?

If your order is shipping to a PO Box, it will be sent via standard mail rather than courier. This may add a little extra time in transit, and we truly appreciate your patience as it makes its way to you.

Preorders

A few of our pieces are available to pre-order ahead of arrival. The estimated ship date is noted on the product page. Once your order is placed, please allow until that date for us to fulfil and ship your pieces. We'll keep you updated and write to you should any delays come up.

All pre-orders are final sale.

US duty & taxes

All applicable duties, tariffs, and import fees on U.S. orders are calculated and paid at checkout. Faire Living ships every U.S. order under Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
