Delft Porcelain Ice Skate Ornament

A porcelain ice skate ornament handpainted in Delft blue. A tribute to winter in the Netherlands and the legendary Elfstedentocht, the 200 km skating race across the frozen canals of Friesland.

Handpainted in Delft, Netherlands by Heinen Delfts Blauw. Each piece is painted in cobalt blue on a white glaze in the Delftware tradition, a Dutch ceramic style that dates to the 17th century and was first inspired by Chinese porcelain brought to Europe by the Dutch East India Company.
