Green Onyx Mortar & Pestle

A hand-carved mortar and pestle in green onyx, made in Pakistan from a single block of stone. The deep bowl is generously shaped to hold spices, garlic, or herbs for grinding and the pestles sturdy weight crushes rather than pushes the contents for maximum flavour.

Green onyx is a banded translucent stone with colour and veining that differs from piece to piece.

Use it for fresh pestos, spice pastes, garlic-and-salt for vinaigrettes, or a quick muddle for cocktails. The marble stays cool to the touch, which keeps aromatics from heating as you grind.
