Graceful and poetic, our Scalloped Japanese Oval Serving Platter takes its name from the delicate folds of a ballerina’s skirt — a motif echoed in its softly scalloped relief. Handcrafted in Japan from red earthen clay, each piece is created using the centuries-old kohiki technique, where a thin layer of white slip is brushed over the clay before glazing. The result is a surface that feels both luminous and alive, with subtle variations that make every plate unique. Fired at a high temperature for durability, the Tutu Plate combines artistry and everyday function — ideal for serving pastries, salads, or small entrées with quiet beauty.
