Giving Back | Green Friday Edition
We planted trees in Uganda!
This past Black Friday Weekend, rather than holding a sale, we partnered with the non profit organization One Tree Planted to plant one tree for every in-store & online sale.
A core value of our Faire Philosophy is providing products that are fair not just for our makers & artisans but fair to you too.
To us, this means being intentional with how we purchase our items & in turn, how we showcase them to you as well.
We’re proud as can be to represent so many exceptional artisans & ethical makers but as a rule, we keep our inventory small so we can stay committed to providing fairly made goods, at fair prices, every day of the year.
Our partners at One Tree Planted are working with local farmers in Paibona, Northern Uganda to plant trees on their land. These trees will provide the farmers with sustainable food and income by growing fruits, nuts, and medicines. In an area that has experienced extensive clear cutting for charcoal production, planting trees will improve agricultural yields, reduce soil erosion, and improve the health of the soil. It will also protect biodiversity by improving habitat and will provide a jump-off point for several other sustainable agroforestry projects in the area, improving the livelihoods of hundreds of Ugandan farmers.
To everyone who shared our story or made a purchase during this weekend, cannot thank you enough for your support of this project! We are excited to say that because of you, many, many trees were planted and we look forward to carrying on this new Faire tradition in the coming years.
We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! We sure are thankful for you 💛
