Plum Plum Bowls
In Japan, this type of flower-shaped vessel is often placed on the table to celebrate the short-lived beauty of spring. As the name suggests, these delightful dishes are formed in the shape of plum blossoms.
With their high walls and deeply scalloped edges, Marumitsu's two sizes of Plum Plum bowls are perfect for side dishes, plating special foods like scallops, gelato and sweets alike.
A Japanese method known as the "kohiki technique," the distinctive coloring in this collection results from a reaction between the dish's base of pale yellow earthen clay and a layer of white powder clay that is applied on top. After being finished with a transparent glaze, the result is a subtle variance in shades of pink, with the soft yellow clay coming through in some parts.

A NOTE ON HANDMADE:
Due to kiln firing and the nature of clay and hand-glazed pieces, subtle variations may occur from item to item. Small color differences or the occasional glaze drip on the bottom of the piece are not considered a defect but a true testament to each piece's handcrafted nature and the natural characteristics of pottery. With that said, your joy when receiving any piece from our store is our highest priority. If you would like to see a photo of the exact ceramic item(s) we have in stock, simply reach out to us using the "Chat with us" box located near the bottom right corner of your screen, and we will be happy to assist you.
